Local Education Funds: Leading Transformation in Public Education, PEN's 16th Annual Conference
Public Education Network’s 16th Annual Conference examined the strategic roles LEFs perform in helping school districts and communities transform public education, especially in the areas of building and organizing communities, promoting policy and practice change, and developing the necessary infrastructures for redesigning the system of public education. In short, the 2006 conference was designed to define, document and promote the critical roles LEFs play in shaping their districts’ and communities' responses in providing poor children with the educational, human and social skills they need to be full participants in society.
